Red Telegram Wedding Photography is the combined talent and passion of Sarah Black and Kim Selby, both multiple award winning photographers, who photograph a small number of weddings annually in the greater Melbourne, Mornington Peninsula and Macedon Ranges areas.
We are proud that each of the weddings we photograph looks very different from the last or next one, as we strive to celebrate the individuality of your event, and not our egos, or our ideas about what is beautiful or fashionable. We pour our hearts into documenting the ‘feel’ of your day, and use whatever means are at hand to do that. We want you to look at your photos in 30 years and think ‘how beautiful we were! And how in love!”. We think of ourselves as both photojournalists and artists, depending on the moment. We feel that to stop what you are doing, look at the camera, and smile, does not often make sense; the most important moments are usually neither static nor posed. We are low-key, and fun, and creative. We listen mindfully to everything that is happening around us, and record it for you, for ever.
Other details you may or may not have an interest in:
Lighting: The sun, the moon, windows, streetlamps, hotel lobby lighting, candles, or a little portable lighting kit if we really need it for fun stuff (such as photobooths). Generally, though, we prefer photos with depth and grain, as they work harder to tell your story than ‘perfect’ lighting does.
Travel: We love an adventure, and to travel, so are available for weddings near (Victoria) and far (Australia and Overseas).
Teamwork: We generally only photograph weddings together, unless your wedding is very intimate (less than 30 guests), because this enables us to offer a more candid and natural feel to your photographs, while still allowing us to capture the ‘key’ wedding moments. It is just as important to us to capture your parent’s tears of joy as they watch your ceremony, as it is to capture that moment itself.
Awards: We most recently collected, between us, 10 Silver awards at the 2011 Victorian Professional Photographer of the Year Awards, and 3 Silver Awards at the 2011 Australian Photographer of the Year Awards. We continue to enter awards as a means of refining our technical skills and to learn from, and be inspired by, the most amazing photographers in Australia.
